It demonstrates the action of a magnetic field on a free moving conductor located across two current carrying elements. Two brass rails mounted parallel to each other in a clear acrylic stand and have 4mm sockets at one of their ends. A copper rod is supportd on both the ralis and is free to role along their length. A U shaped magnet when positioned between the rails with the current flowing through the rails, results in the movement of the copper rod.
