Hand operated, mounted on base. For the generation of electric charge, useful in electrostatics. Comprises a near spherical dome supported on top of an insulated, pillar on the base. A removable flat rubber belt rotates through rollers and results in the accumulation of charge on the dome, until electrical breakdown of air surrounding the sphere occurs. With sufficient charge build up on the dome, bringing the earthed discharge sphere sufficiently close to it results in the transfer of charge from dome to ground in the form of electric spark. Earthing terminal provided on the base. Supplied with discharge sphere with 4mm earthing socket, mounted on a long insulated handle.

Bigger in size. Comprises a two piece (near spherical) dome of diameter 275mm approx., fixed on top of an acrylic pipe, with complete assembly mounted on a sturdy sheet metal casing. Additionally, the base also incorporates an electronic variable speed control for driving its heavy duty motor. The bigger size dome increases the charge capacity of the apparatus resulting in higher build up of electric potential. The charge buildup on dome is accelerated by heavy duty motor and other design changes incorporated in the device. Comes with a discharger mounted on a long insulated handle, one side of the discharger being hemispherical, while other pointed to allow an effective demonstration of lighting conductor.

Consists of two circular aluminum discs of diameter 200mm approx. Used as a variable capacitor with two 4mm sockets fitted on a moulded plastic case. One disc is fixed while other can be moved to adjust the gap between the two plates. Suitable dielectric can be inserted between the plates to vary the capacitance. Provided with 4mm sockets.

Wimshurst Electrostatic Generator

A traditional device capable of generating high electrostatic potentials that can produce spark of length up to 3 Inch under favourable conditions.
Equipped with two acrylic plates of diameter about 10 Inch and having Aluminum sectors permanently pasted radially along the rim. Both the plates mounted parallel to each other and rotate in opposite direction through a belt-pulley arrangement. Provided with a handle for manual rotation. A set of charge collecting combs is mounted along with the adjustable spark gap arms, the latter equipped with small metallic sphere discharger at one end and long insulating handle adjustment at the other end. The charge can be stored in a pair of high capacity Leyden jar capacitors that can be connected or disconnected as desired. When connected to the Leyden jars, the spherical dischargers starts accumulating the charge and transfer of charge from one discharger to other takes place in the form electric spark jumping from one sphere to other. Complete apparatus is mounted on a well insulated base that also carries a pair of earthing terminals for the Leyden jars.
